This collage is made from half of my face with white paint and a watercolour wash. It is directly inspired from the Richard Hamilton images. I'm not very pleased with the composition of the piece and feel it looks quite messy and unfinished. The proportions of the face also look like they have been accidentally over and undersized, even though they are purposely done this way.
This composition is a collage of my sisters face integrated with a magazine image which i think works better. It links a lot more closely to my final composition, however still i cannot make the facial features look purposely out of proportion.
Here i have used the same idea, however i have attempted to make the features in proportion. It works a lot more effectively as a composition but it doesn't make the mockery of the mass media on women as i am now aiming for.
I prefer the angles in this composition, the eyes match up well but the background washes let it down. I can't decide at the moment if the image works better with both magazine images and my own images or with just magazine. I think i need to do some further artist research and mess around and improve my painting of facial features as these appear to be lacking development from my collages.
