Make up - The Art Of Beauty

This is a book by Make-Up artist Linda Mason that i took out from the college library. I read the sections about her art and came across her web page which i also found very interesting.

After my inter-rim assessment feedback, we had discussed using alternative products to make my collages instead of just paint. I had thought about using fake eyelashes, hair dye and makeup. Linda Masons' artwork has influenced me more to use makeup to make a piece of work as experimental.

Above is an acrylic on canvas painting by Linda Mason, she has many more throughout the book and on her website.
To the right, i have made a response to her book using make-up as an art tool with my collage and added features of hair dye. I also experimented and did this to a few other images (such as below right).
Although more realistic, the make-up took a long time to dry and i found it difficult to control. I have began using googly eyes, I feel they add an uneasy feeling to the work, similarly to how my installation made the audience feel. I am going to look more into how these can change and affect my compositions as an object as well as part of the face.
